I can’t Breathe – Black Lives Matter – Always

06/09/2020 – Deep Reflections – I can’t Breathe – Black Lives Matter .
On the African Day – May 25, 2020, George Floyd, an African-American man, was killed in the Powder horn community of Minneapolis, Minnesota – USA. Many watched. While Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down on a city street during an arrest, Derek Chauvin, a white American Minneapolis police officer, kept his knee on the right side of Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds (hands in his pockets for whatever reason). According to the criminal complaint against Chauvin, 2 minutes and 53 seconds of that time occurred after Floyd became unresponsive. The cause of death has been recorded as Asphyxiation. Officers Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas K. Lane participated in Floyd’s arrest, with Kueng holding Floyd’s back, Lane holding his legs, and Thao looking on and preventing intervention by an onlooker as he stood nearby.
With COVID-19 still a Global Pandemic, is the Grand Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Universe trying to communicate to all human beings? 20 dollars was enough to burn America. Looking at it from another perspective. Twenty dollars ($20) only paid by George Floyd of African descent to a shopkeeper. The shop owner questioned the originality of twenty dollars and decided to call in the police, accusing Floyd of giving him a false paper (counterfeit). The police went in immediately. The events that followed swept across America and spread to other Continents. George Floyd died of suffocation under the knee of a white policeman screaming (Please, I cannot breathe). History will surely remember this one day.
Buildings were on fire. Windows broken and some stores looted. Others were pushed, others gassed, others mishandled. The very store where Floyd visited with a $20 bill was burnt. It was later revealed that the banknote was original and not fake or counterfeited note as the shop owner had earlier alleged. Should be feeling that sense of guiltiness for false alarm and wrongfully accusing an innocent man who later paid for his life. Insurance Companies have to brace themselves. Reforms and Actions must be underway. Demonstrations, Protests, Riots, Marching, Solidarity, Speeches ensued. Emotionally draining episode. MHSRIEP. For the past few weeks, many have been reflecting on the global events, the unfolding developments in Asia, Middle East, US, South America, Europe, Australia and Africa. Had time to read history and watch documentaries on Amazon Prime Videos, the Cable Networks and the Social media. Ukwindula ifya lala. Slavery, Equal Rights and Pan Africanism rejuvenated. Black Lives Matter. God Gracious Hear Us
